Images of me Drawing a self portrait of myself using only my mouth of my feet

This was a very difficult yet emotional task i had to take part in , it was as though i was drawing a portrait of what i felt about myself and my body either good or bad and on top of that i had to draw this portrait using body parts excluding my hands.

Awarness of the pelvis and the tail bone dropping

Here is a short clip of me working on an exercise that I felt would really benefit me in movement studies , its working on the tail bone always saying low and the pelvis not sticking out, I really enjoyed this exercise because it created a lot of awareness for me and my body.

Here is a short video of me working in the studio on alignment and also on the articulation of various different movements and the head to tail connection that we have been working closely on in movement studies sessions, I feel that I have grown in my knowledge of alignment and articulation of the feet, and whenever I get the chance I always spend time working on these two things.

Cacoon Paper Rolling

Start of my Cacoon Paper rolling

Here in this image is the beginning position of me starting my process of rolling and trapping myself inside paper, this is an exercise/Task which was set in my IPP session, for me it was a very controversial exercise as the idea was very daunting and abstract but I really engaged in the exercise and really enjoyed it, I have taken part in this exercise on more than one occasion, this is a reflection of how much I really enjoyed this exercise.

D-TRACES

On my choreographic journey I decided to gain more knowledge and insight on ‘Site specific dance’ the reason being is because imp not studying just dance I’m a dance and theatre student.
My blogging experience really helped and benefited me with my creative journey, I was able to document my process and reflect back on my creative process it was also a learning process documenting my every move or things that really inspired me, It was really difficult at first but as time went on I started to feel a little more at ease and it became a little more natural
I never gained the chance to create and perform my own solo and duo dance piece. I decided to do research on site specific work because I always had a deep interest in site specific we also touched briefly on it in my ‘IPP’ session I have.
Site specific work supported my learning process in various different ways, one of these ways were technically, Site specific worked helped me with articulation of movement and also to pay attention to detail, It also helped me with moving with different parts of my body that I never really paid attention to, I felt as site specific dance helped me connect more with my movement and emotion through dance it really enhanced the way I moved and visualised different spaces.
Site specific research has really benefited my journey throughout this blog and my choreographic journey, it’s opened my eyes and mind to various different things that I don’t usual pay attention to, it also helped me to project emotion in different areas through movement, when I am in the dance studio for movement studies I project the emotion I feel through movement I pay more attention to the atmosphere.
In my IPP session we worked a lot with imagery of paper, the way movement can be enhanced.
I absolutely enjoyed working with paper it gave me a sense of sculpture, the way are bodies can engrave folds in the simplest object, we done a exercise were we had to roll ourselves inside a large piece of paper it had the feeling of being trapped but it also had the feeling of being secure almost cocoon like.
This exercise really helped me with my movement studies and my choreographic journey because it allowed me to feel more relaxed and pay more attention to time when I actually do tense and learning to relax my body more when I move.

Dance Review - EDEN

The dance performance that I decided to do a review on was on a dance performance entitled EDEN . Just from the name EDEN I received a sense of naturalism and I immediately started to make comparisons to the actual Adam and Eve, I am not to sure weather this was intentional but It left and nice feeling that the audience could play on there minds.
It seemed although the Dancers/ Choreographers were interested in Creative Performance, this defiantly reflected through in the way the dancers moved and worked as a company.

For me this dance performance had a very refreshing life like feeling, it really represented nature and the various different things that it consists of.

The start of the performance opened up with bright natural out door lighting, this lighting had a very strong impact on the atmosphere and the movements, which were occurring Throughout the Dance performance.
There was also background music, which complimented the dance movement, the music reflected wildlife, it had a lot of birdlike sounds, this made the audience feel although we were outdoors them.

The dancers had Wellingtons boots beside the stage, I think the reason why these wellington boots were placed in the audience view point was to show a sense of outside, It was although it was a representation outside, even though the movement was inside.

The dances used a lot of explorations of touch and feel; it was as though they were discovering different way of contact with one another.

The Dancers used a lot of abstract elements in there Dance performance.
One of the props was huge plastic bags, there was strong imagery of the dancers being trapped in these bags and trying there hardest to break out and break free, sharp strong music really complimented the movements that occurred.
At times I felt like this performance was a dance for joy and freedom.

Overall this performance was very abstract and really represented the company very well.

This Image really reflects the imagery of Site Specific Dance for me , This picture represents colour , light and has a very strong natural vibrant feel about it.
I chose this picture because it has very strong features that come with it, The costumes being used are very vibrant and very abstract , I felt asthough this Imagery of Site Specific Dance can represent me in some aspects of my artistic journey.
The hand painted on the dress i feel represent like , and a stretch like type of movement, which is being reflected in this Site Specfic picture.
I also feel asthough the location where this imagery was shot, really reflects the type of movement and dance that is being put foward, it has a very natural abstract feel.
